Reduced glutathione (GSH) is a tripeptide compound formed by the condensation of glutamic acid, cysteine and glycine through peptide bonds. It is a widely used active short peptide. GSH is widely found in baker’s yeast, wheat germ, animal liver, chicken blood, pig blood, tomato, pineapple and cucumber, among which the highest content is in wheat germ and animal liver, up to 100~1000mg/100g.

There are two forms of glutathione: reduced (G-SH) and oxidized (G-S-S-G). Under physiological conditions, reduced glutathione accounts for the majority. Glutathione reductase catalyzes the tautomerism between the two types. The coenzyme of this enzyme provides NADPH for phosphate sugar bypass metabolism.

Glutathione is soluble in water, dilute alcohol, liquid ammonia, dimethyl formamide, and insoluble in ethanol, ether, and acetone. When it is solid, its properties are stable, and its aqueous solution is easily oxidized to oxidized glutathione (GSSG) in the air.

Reduced glutathione is obtained from yeast rich in reduced glutathione by microbial fermentation, and then separated and purified from yeast by modern technology. The Saccharomyces cerevisiae used are the first generation of high-purity and high-activity glutathione-rich yeast, and the yeast is a non-transgenic natural variety. It is natural, safe and nutritious.
